La hiperfagia . el trastorno alimentario más frecuente?
Hace unos años veíamos pacientes con ” atracones” y considerabamos los mismos inmersos dentro de un cuadro más amplio, según los investigadores de Harvard este trastorno supera en número a la anorexia y a la bulimia, y está fuertemente ligado a la obesidad.
El trabajo se realizó mediante encuestas a 9000 personas, y de ellas , 3.5% de mujeres y 2% de hombres tienen episodios de este tipo, al menos dos veces por semana. Las estadísticas de la anorexia y bulimia, son menores
( 1% mujeres, 0.3 hombres y bulimia 1.5% mujeres y 0.5% hombres).
La hiperfagia tendría por otro lado una persistencia mayor en la vida que los otros TCA.
Un lado de cierta preocupación dado el incremento del número de entidad nosológicas en salud mental creciente, es que los autores consideran poder propner para la próxima edición del DSM a la hiperfagia.
